Hammontree’s is a gourmet grilled cheese restaurant that was in need of an updated brand to match their emphasis on quality local ingredients and their one-of-a-kind vibe that represented downtown Fayetteville, Arkansas. Conveniently located in a college town, Hammontree’s is mostly targeted toward college students and young adults. With this in mind, I created a brand that emphasized the unique qualities that sets Hammontree’s apart from other competitors.
I created a fun, hand-drawn logo with a simple grilled cheese icon to introduce the story of Hammontree’s. The color palette is inspired by fresh farmer’s market ingredients and things like the iconic cherry pepper that tops all of their incredible sandwiches. I wanted to produce a brand that told a story, and had a unique, updated, organic vibe that appealed to young adults. The hand-drawn pattern I created is based on the distinctive aspects of the restaurant, the emphasis of quality ingredients, and completes the story of Hammontree’s.
Throughout my senior year of college, I created a collection of over 30 posters as the Graphic Designer for Student Events and Activities. I learned how to prioritize my time, take on multiple projects, and meet the needs of the organization. I utilized the creative freedom in this job to experiment with different lettering styles, colors combinations, illustrations, and textures. With this opportunity, I got to find my style and produce a lot of fun work!

CHASE THE LION
Chase the Lion is a hand crafted longboard with carved illustration and hand lettered grip tape. The goal for this project was to create functional design with a concept based on how we overcome our fears by trusting God and take leaps of faith with the power of Christ.
Starting from scratch, I collaborated with one of my friends to help me build the board. We glued together 3 pieces of plywood, sawed out the custom shape, put the board in a concaved press, and sanded and stained the board. Then, I transferred the illustration onto the board and carved away the negative lines that would reveal the lion. Finally, I hand lettered the quote, “chase the lion” and cut it out of grip tape with a hot knife. Chase the Lion is a fully functional longboard deck, and I really enjoyed the process of making every detail matter.
TRADING POST COFFEE
Trading Post Coffee strives to excite, educate, and engage consumers about the culture of global community. The goal is to provide global coffee for the greater good. By definition, a trading post is where people come together to trade other products from around the world. The packaging design educates the consumer about the origin of the bean and engages them with the farmers behind the product. Trading Post Coffee utilizes its fair trade product as a platform to benefit the lives of the consumers and the farmers.
Trading Post Coffee provides the finest organic beans from around the world. The hand selected coffee is naturally flavored specified by the origin of where the bean came from. The illustrated packaging is also inspired by the culture and the iconic features of the natural landscape. I intended to create an organic feel with hand lettered type, illustration, and texture. My goal was to make Trading Post Coffee an experience for the consumer by innovative design that educated them about the different flavors of the world.
